Position Overview
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Chemical Operator (Active Production Class B Operator) for a temp-to-perm opportunity with a leading manufacturing client in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Chemical Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining plant equipment to ensure efficient production. This role involves working with machinery such as Activators, Screens, Crushers, Ribbon Blenders, Forklifts, Tub Bags, and packaging systems. Operators will support production goals, maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure strict compliance with all safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant equipment including activators, crushers, ribbon blenders, forklifts, tub bags, and packaging systems.
- Perform product switchovers, cleanouts, and assist in running Ribbon Blenders and packaging AP-22 materials.
- Fill and label bags according to the Sling Bin Filling & Sampling procedure.
- Take readings on production units, track bag counts, and ensure consistent material flow with no gaps on feed ends.
- Complete required shift paperwork and ensure smooth shift transitions with accurate reporting and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues and communicate downtime or concerns promptly with the Shift Supervisor.
- Support the Production Shift Supervisor in meeting company goals, compliance policies, and regulatory standards.
- Cross-train and demonstrate proficiency across Active Plant equipment and procedures.
- Always follow safety protocols, wearing proper PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hardhat, earplugs) and any additional required equipment.
- Provide effective shift relief at the start and end of each shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Production Department Head.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Forklift operation experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and comprehend safety and work instructions.
- Professional maturity: separates emotions from workplace issues and objectively addresses challenges.
- Strong problem-solving ability and commitment to workplace safety and team collaboration.
