Schedule:
 M-F, 7a-5p,(on call, weekend and overtime as needed)
Pay Rate:
$25.00 -$45.00 per hour( based on experience)
Summary
Join a dynamic team responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy-duty forestry and industrial machinery. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. The position requires travel and the ability to handle demanding conditions, making it ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and loaders.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize equipment breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools, service manuals, and technical schematics.
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, transmissions, brakes, fuel systems, and tracks.
  • Conduct tests to ensure repairs are effective and equipment meets safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work logs, and equipment histories.
  • Collaborate with equipment operators to identify mechanical issues and confirm repairs.
  • Follow company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training in diesel/heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic.
  • Valid driver’s license and Class A CDL required.
  • Will need to have or be able to obtain a medical card  (required to operate the ESSO service truck).
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and mechanical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy components and work in demanding environments.
  • Experience ordering permits across multiple states.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Certification from a recognized institution (ASE, CAT, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and resilience under pressure; able to handle long days and late nights.
  • Comfortable lifting boxes up to 35 lbs. and performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, or use of a step stool.
Working Conditions
  • Work performed in both shop environments and on job sites in varying weather conditions.
  • May require overtime, weekends, or on-call availability.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety boots, gloves, and goggles is mandatory.
