Accountant
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant for a long term contract opportunity to manage bi-weekly and monthly payroll processing while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate payroll and accounting records, preparing required reports, and serving as a key resource for payroll-related matters across departments.
Schedule:
Onsite, M-F, 8am-4pm
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll systems, deductions, and employee records
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, FLSA, and applicable regulations
- Prepare and submit payroll taxes; reconcile payroll accounts
- Prepare required financial and payroll reports
- Maintain financial system data and prepare journal entries
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Serve as a liaison between Finance, internal departments, and external agencies
- Assist with audits and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- Minimum one (1) year of accounting experience
- Knowledge of GASB, FASB, and GFOA standards preferred
- Knowledge of payroll laws and government accounting practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Valid driver’s license required
