Job Overview
Sirius Staffing is seeking an Accounting Clerk for a position in Redding, CA. This role is responsible for a full range of accounting duties, including AP/AR. The position ensures that all financial transactions are accurate, timely, and handled in accordance with all company policies, procedures, and state and federal guidelines.
On-site – Mon – Friday, 8a-5p
(may transition to hybrid after a few months)
Essential Job Functions
Accounts Receivable:
- Maintain systematic, accurate, and timely processing of all accounts receivable, including posting payments, processing deposits, preparing monthly reports, and preparing credit memos.
- Contact clients to resolve payment problems, discrepancies, and payment remittance details.
- Research and respond to client inquiries regarding payment issues, outstanding items, and general payment questions.
Accounts Payable:
- Maintain systematic, accurate, and timely processing of all accounts payable, including, but not limited to, refunds for prevailing parties, duplicate payments, and payments issued in error, as well as vendor invoicing and vendor payments.
- Identify and investigate issues with refund transactions and obtain mutual resolution of discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor profile data for accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and manage regular check runs.
- Report any unresolved disputes to the Accounting Manager for resolution.
General Duties:
- Prepare and ensure the accurate, timely completion of month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting requirements.
- Prepare and provide requested documentation and information for audit purposes.
- Maintain organized files for all pertinent billing and accounting records.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Perform clerical duties including, but not limited to, answering telephone inquiries, taking messages, filing, scanning, and photocopying.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial data, with a focus on quality control and self-monitoring.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and decimals, with the ability to compute rates and percentages.
- Proficiency in multiple software programs, including Microsoft applications.
- Ability to follow instructions and respond accurately to management direction.
- Exceptional communication skills, including conveying information accurately, active listening, and asking clarifying questions when needed.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Ability to stay focused and maintain concentration under normal to heavy distractions.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Capability to manage change, delays, or unexpected operational events appropriately.
- Commitment to following all company policies and procedures currently in effect or implemented in the future.
