Job Description

We are hiring an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract-to-perm position at a large manufacturing facility in Birmingham, AL. This role will be on-site Monday – Friday, 8-5
The Accounts Payable Clerk will initially work under contract for 6-12 weeks before transitioning to a permanent role.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; preference is given to candidates with an Associate Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience within a manufacturing setting
  • Proficient in professional communication
  • Proficient utilization of software such as Great Plains (training provided)
  • Competent use of Microsoft Excel
 
Responsibilities:
  • Receipt and processing of invoices
  • Accurate coding of invoices
  • Entry of invoices into the designated system
  • Creating payment approvals
  • Check generation for vendor payments
  • Timely execution of payments
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Accounts Payable Clerk will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial accounting ledgers, ensuring the timely submission of financial and fiscal reports, and supporting other finance team members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Understand and adhere to many work procedures, which are non-routine and learned through formal and hands-on experience. The line manager handles more complex matters.
  • Carefully plan activities and prioritize workload, especially during critical periods such as month-end, year-end, and strategic planning cycles to meet group reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in developing new team members, providing training and general advice as needed.
  • Offer creative insights to improve processes and procedures, including the Accounts Payable discipline.
  • Exercise autonomy and discretion in decision-making, with results regularly reviewed by the line manager to ensure objectives are met, including the timely, accurate, and reliable preparation and submission of statutory and fiscal reports.
  • Maintain regular internal communication within the department, influencing and persuading colleagues to provide necessary information to achieve departmental objectives, particularly during critical periods.
