Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking Senior Mechanical Engineer for a temp-to-hire position in Theodore, AL.
Pay: $76 to $86/ hour
Shift: 4 x 10s, Monday to Thursday, and maybe some Friday half days.
Summary: Responsible for coordinating and managing engineering and technical development projects ensuring the highest standards of work and quality controls are in place, and all work is completed on schedule while meeting the utmost quality requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and technical support to the mechanical engineering team, guiding junior engineers to maintain technical standards.
- Lead engineering projects, attend project meetings, and report progress while managing resources to meet deadlines and budget.
- Coordinate closely with the Mechanical Engineering Manager, acting as an on-site liaison for back-office teams and maintaining regular communication with team members, customers, and supervisors.
- Apply Quality Management Systems (QMS) standards, validating documentation, and establishing content for non-conformities.
- Track and record project progress, create work orders, and draft standard operating instructions.
- Produce and verify detailed calculations, technical reports, and design sketches, applying client standards to meet field installation requirements.
- Make critical, timely decisions impacting project success and safety.
- Propose alternative design solutions and provide technical guidance to junior team members and design leaders.
- Manage workloads related to non-conformities, concessions, and late changes, supporting production needs and updating master documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 15-20+ years in Mechanical/Design Engineering or related fields.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Proven experience in leading project design, managing teams, budgets, scopes, and schedules.
- Ability to lead multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Familiarity with local and international engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Effective teamwork, integrity, flexibility, and high professional standards..
