Biology Expert 1
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a passionate Biology Expert to join a Biomonitoring R&D team in the Bellevue, WA area. In this role, you will play a crucial part in expanding our food pathogen diagnostics portfolio, supporting development projects, and contributing to our Biomonitoring strategy.
Pay: $26-$30/hr.
Onsite Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

What you will do:
- Assist scientists with food studies, conduct background research, and perform routine lab maintenance.
What you need to Qualify:
- BA/BS in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Microbiology).
- 1-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, particularly in Life Sciences and Microbiology, including food microbiology and diagnostics.
- Experience working in a Biohazard Safety Level II (BSL-2) laboratory, including handling food bacterial pathogens and following biohazard safety protocols.
- Proficiency in PCR/QPCR techniques (required) and immunological assays.
- Strong aseptic technique, microbiology techniques (e.g., culture media preparation, culture propagation, microbial identification), and general lab skills.
- Ability to analyze experimental data, troubleshoot experiments, and propose next steps to management.
- Experience following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in a research setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools (preferred).
- Ability to lift 15-20 lbs. (food sample enrichments).
- Willingness to wear PPE at all times in a BSL-2 lab.

- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a collaborative team setting.
