Job Description

We are seeking to fill an opportunity for a Checker to join a Drafting and Design team in Pensacola, FL. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity working in the Structural and Mechanical industry specializing in control systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Check drawings for heavy industrial structures, mechanical componentry, stiffened plate work, support steel, and access.
  • Review field erection and shop fabrication detail drawings for accuracy versus design drawings.
  • Ability to understand concepts provided by engineering.
  • Analyze specifications, design data, sketches, and related engineering drawings.
  • Verify critical factors and dimensional accuracy.
  • Confer with engineering and design staff to assist in resolving design issues.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Experience in structural and mechanical design.
  • Must be able to confer with engineering and design staff to assist in resolving design issues.
  • Proficient at applying reasoning to produce practical solutions.
  • Ability to write technical correspondence.
  • AutoCAD proficiency in 2D is required.
  • Typical industries served are power plants, paper mills, chemical plants, and refineries.
  • Some travel required no more than (2-6) annual trips, each about (2-3) nights away.
  • Ability to obtain field measurements and climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
