Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking candidates for a full-time, contract Civil / Structural Engineer role working with a large chemical manufacturing client. This is a remote work opportunity expected to last a minimum of 12 months. Please see details below!
Qualifications/Requirement:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a recognized accredited program (ABET) in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience
- Related experience required from chemical, oil and gas, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical industries
- Preferred Professional Engineer Registration (NCEES) - Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
- Must be able to work with Structural Analysis Software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required, and ideally has experience using/knowledge of engineering application software such as: Risa3D, RISA Foundation, STAAD, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
- Must be proficient with CAD
- Willing and able to travel as needed for project support (up to 75% of the time)
- Must be willing to travel across all North America for existing and new projects
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Independently develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches to unique engineering problems.
- Has the ability to supervise engineering staff on projects that range from small to large capital size projects.
- This individual must be able to perform engineering for deep and shallow foundations, structural concrete, structural steel, and site preparation.
- Individual proactively provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, IEBC, IBC, OSHA and NFPA.
- Independently applies knowledge and continuously develop a quality program for the CSA department.
- Has the knowledge and experience to check calculations made by other engineers to ensure code and specification conformance and good engineering practice.
- Has the ability to develop detailed sketches necessary for completing engineering drawings.
- Has the ability to produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
