Collections Clerk
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a contract Collections Clerk to support the accounts receivable and collections function for one of our clients working onsite in Tampa, FL. This position will manage business-to-business customer accounts, collect outstanding balances, resolve billing issues, and help ensure timely payment of invoices.
Schedule: Mon - Fri, onsite 9a-5:30p
Key Responsibilities
- Review aging reports and manage accounts with balances over 30 days past due.
- Contact B2B customers by phone and email regarding outstanding invoices and payment status.
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and customer inquiries.
- Document collection efforts, payment commitments, and account activity accurately.
- Work with Sales, Customer Service, Billing, and other internal teams to resolve account issues.
- Assist with account reconciliations and unapplied cash research.
- Escalate unresolved disputes or delinquent accounts to management as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential customer and financial records.
- Prepare documentation as requested for audits.
- Perform general administrative duties and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in B2B collections, accounts receivable, billing, or a related accounting function preferred.
- Experience working with aging reports and past-due commercial accounts preferred.
- Knowledge of Great Plains or similar accounting/ERP software is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong math, problem-solving, and account reconciliation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple accounts, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
- Professional, dependable, and team-oriented.
