Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager for a direct hire opportunity working onsite in Reno, NV. 

The Corporate Tax Manager will oversee the accurate completion and submission of various taxation compliance requirements. This includes responsibilities involving the IRS, SEC, State of Nevada, the PUCN, FERC, and consolidated corporate taxation reporting to Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE) on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The role involves developing templates, providing guidance to the taxation team, and delivering accurate data to senior leadership. The manager will evaluate internal trends and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of reported information.

Compensation:  $119,000/yearly + benefits 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Compliance
  • Manage all corporate tax compliance for the company, ensuring timely and accurate filings with external and internal entities.
  • Reconcile filings with internal work papers and review tax computations and filings for accuracy.
  • Account for and disclose new tax legislation in financial statements, including corporate tax rate changes, new tax credits, and complex tax items.
  • Oversee income and non-income tax accruals and related support/reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax payments, reconciling tax payable/receivable accounts.
  • Monitor IRS and other jurisdictional audits, adjusting accounts as necessary.
  • Adhere to all SOX 404 internal controls.
Data Analysis
  • Prepare and analyze fluctuation reports for tax data, including accruals, tax returns, and financial plans.
  • Clearly analyze and explain fluctuations as necessary.
  • Communicate data to relevant parties and review memorandums on pertinent tax issues.
Planning and Forecasting

Leadership

 What we are looking for: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • At least 10 years of related experience in tax accounting is required 
  • CPA or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State tax law and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to establish objectives, direct resources, and oversee the development or implementation of processes.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills to negotiate and influence project objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to manage, train, and educate others and interface with leadership effectively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines.
