Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Certified Dental Assistant for a contract position in Chattanooga, TN. The Dental Assistant will work under direct supervision, assist the Dentist at the chairside, clean and sterilize all equipment and dental hygiene tools, provide information to client/patient on oral hygiene and post-dental care; and maintain a clean safe office environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares dental materials under the direct instruction of the dentist
  • Assists with fillings and extractions
  • Cleans, Disinfects, and Sterilizes patient areas and Instruments
  • Place instruments into ultrasonic cleaner, rinsing and drying, and pack in bags to be placed into the sterilizer.
  • Prepares tray set up for treatments based on a procedure
  • Operator and produce X-rays after covering the patient with a lead shield
  • Cleans x-ray equipment monthly including draining and changing out of developing solution; prepares Extraction packets for patients that include post-operative instructions; performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold a current Dental Assistant Certification for the state of TN
  • One year of dental assistance with children is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dental assisting methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations related to dental practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of x-ray methods practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical sterilization equipment operation.
  • Skill in utilizing equipment and materials in response to patient and dentist needs.
  • Skill in maintaining a clean safe office environment following universal health and safety procedures.
  • Skill effectively communicating in both oral and written form.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires long periods of standing or sitting while assisting the assigned dentist, exposure to air and blood-borne pathogens, potential exposure to radiation from x-ray machines, hazardous chemicals, hot equipment, and working with culturally sensitive, indigent, and homeless patients.
