Director of Engineering
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Director of Engineering position for a direct-hire opportunity in Baton Rogue, LA.
Pay: $125,000 to $150,000/annually, with a 20% bonus.
Schedule: M- F, with flexibility to start earlier or stay late as needed.
Summary: The Director of Engineering will be a key member of the Baton Rouge Management/Operations team, providing technical leadership and direct support to LSU Facility. Reporting to the General Manager, this role offers regular interaction with company leadership and involves overseeing capital projects, utility systems, facility optimization, and energy efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and evaluation of projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs.
- Develop capital expenditure plans and manage Authorizations of Expenditures (AOEs).
- Oversee Scope of Work (SOW) development, budgeting, design, bidding, and construction.
- Coordinate with LSU on State-funded utility projects and support future growth initiatives.
- Review and present Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for plant operations.
- Manage data collection and analysis to optimize energy consumption and system performance.
- Oversee utility systems records, Title V Air Permit reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide engineering support and troubleshooting to the operations team.
- Supervise small capital projects at Baton Rouge and NOLA facilities.
- Train facility operators and contribute to their technical knowledge development.
- Analyze new technologies and provide input on the operations budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years in project management or supervisory roles.
- Knowledge or familiarity with Louisiana State University is preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is a plus.
- Experience in Utility or District Energy Systems, including:
- Steam and hot water boilers, chiller systems.
- Heating, cooling, and combined heat and power distribution systems.
- Storm and emergency response planning.
- Utility system performance, reliability, and sustainable energy policies.
Technical Skills & Requirements:
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management Software (e.g., MS Project), and scheduling tools.
- Experience analyzing energy consumption, operating costs, and building maintenance expenses.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple engineering and construction projects.
