Distribution Designer - Electric Utility
On-site in Lake Charles, LA
Sirius Staffing is hiring a Distribution Designer for an onsite position in Lake Charles, Louisiana, supporting electric distribution design projects. This role supports electric distribution design work that commonly relies on GIS tools to map and manage network assets. The design projects may support customer requests, system reliability initiatives, or infrastructure improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet with customers to determine electric needs and project requirements
- Design complex electric distribution systems and projects
- Develop designs for the installation, replacement, or removal of distribution facilities
- Perform advanced load calculations and system planning
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field crews
- Review and approve drawings, designs, and specifications
- Ensure designs and work comply with applicable regulatory and safety standards
Qualifications
- Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or technical diploma in a related field
- 4–7+ years of relevant experience
- Strong expertise in utility design and field practices
- Construction experience required
- Management experience
- Familiarity with structural analysis
- Experience working with GDT/GIS systems preferred
- Drafting background is a plus
- Pole Foreman experience is a plus
