Electrical Controls Engineer
Job Description
- Develop and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and integrate PLC-based systems (Allen Bradley and Siemens) to automate and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs and electrical systems to ensure reliable and safe operation of plant equipment.
- System Integration: Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to integrate new equipment and systems, ensuring compatibility and efficiency in operations.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase production efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance system reliability.
- Preventive Maintenance: Implement electrical maintenance strategies, including routine checks and calibration of control systems, to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Ensure all electrical and control systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. Proactively identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze system performance data and generate reports to track efficiency, identify issues, and recommend solutions for optimization.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required
- At least 5 years of Electrical/Controls Engineering
- Proven experience in industrial electrical systems and control systems within a manufacturing environment, ideally within minerals or a related industry.
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC systems for programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and integration with PLCs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvements.
- Familiarity with safety standards and electrical regulations.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
