Position Overview
The Electrical Designer is a critical member of the engineering and design team, responsible for creating detailed electrical system layouts, technical drawings, and schematics based on engineering specifications and project requirements. This role collaborates cross-functionally to ensure all designs are accurate, aligned with project goals, and compliant with regulatory standards and internal procedures.
Key Responsibilities: This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
- Develop and prepare detailed electrical design drawings and layouts.
- Coordinate design efforts with other departments to ensure system compatibility.
- Review, revise, and check technical drawings to ensure accuracy and consistency across production areas.
- Maintain compliance with internal CAD standards and design documentation protocols.
- Utilize company-standard materials and design practices to optimize efficiency and consistency.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable regulatory and classification requirements.
- Adhere to internal project control practices, including PRNs, ECPs, EARs, budget requests, and drawing management.
- Evaluate vendor-supplied data and specifications for design integration.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless execution of design plans.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback from clients, regulatory agencies, and governing bodies into final designs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong proficiency in electrical design principles, drafting techniques, and CAD software.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems integration.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines.
- Experience with ShipConstructor and Navis is highly preferred.
Education & Experience
- Completion of a two-year degree in Industrial Technology, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent coursework).
- A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience in electrical design, preferably in a shipbuilding, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
