Process Engineer
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Process Engineering for a position in Houston, TX. The Process Engineer is a hands-on role expected to spend time in the plant as well as the office, providing daily plant support and implementing projects driven by personal safety, process safety, environmental compliance, quality, reliability, and/or cost reduction
$ 70/hr + Benefits offered
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering required
- Must have 5+ years of experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry or related industry, in either an Engineering or Operations role
- Exhibit good leadership attitudes and behaviors
- Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with Operations and Maintenance employees
- Be a self-starter and a self-motivator with a focus on results
- Must be eligible to work without Sponsorship now and in the future
Responsibilities
- Identify productivity improvement projects by analyzing production data, performing heat and material balances of the process, modelling and simulating the process, pinch analyses, and other quantification methods
- Propose production tests to collect data for productivity improvement projects
- Evaluate the results of production tests
- Utilize the design of experiment methodology where applicable
- Troubleshoot daily operational issues, interfacing with operations and maintenance personnel to address problems
- Monitor and continually optimize process operation; provide guidance to operations personnel to ensure that key energy consumption, yield, selectivity, and production targets are met
- Generate Management of Change (MOC) documents to address plant issues as required, and complete engineering aspects of MOC documentation
- Develop and execute $25K to $5MM capital projects (includes developing scope, conducting project safety reviews, generating estimates, serving as project manager, etc.) in areas such as process, utilities, and plant infrastructure
- Develop all conceptual design, basic engineering, and process-related input for detailed engineering deliverables
- Interface with contract project engineering personnel
- Follow new technology developments and evaluate opportunities to implement in existing units
- Partner with new business development activities to estimate the capital expenditure needs for implementing business growth plans
- Lead and participate in process hazard reviews and plant safety assessments
- Participate in plant safety audits and routine safety improvement activities
