Reliability Engineer 
  • Direct-hire opportunity in Opelika, AL 
  • Onsite – Relocation offered  
  • Salary: $84,000 to $105,000/Annually
  • Bonus up to 15%
 
The Reliability Engineer is an important part of the maintenance team and will be focused on Predictive and Preventive Maintenance for the mill. The primary responsibility is to improve the plant's uptime and enhance the efficiency of the machinery and processes. This position also helps drive new ideas, systems, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the site.
 
Responsibilities
  • Conduct and coordinate investigations of machine failures, including analyzing failure mechanisms and implementing solutions to improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to identify work practices and other opportunities to prevent machine failures.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize Preventative and Predictive Maintenance routes.
  • Implement best practices for lubrication, including the proper selection and storage of lubricants.
  • Analyze plant data to identify areas of focus for the maintenance team, reduce downtime, track downtime trends by department and machine center, and identify other opportunities to improve plant performance.
  • Utilize the mill’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage lubrication and other maintenance activities.
  • Train the maintenance team to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Redesign machinery and components as needed to improve plant reliability and reduce operating costs.
  • Site-wide responsibilities include sawmills, planer mills, dry kilns, site services, and mobile equipment.
  • Apply predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and other techniques to enhance the mill’s reliability program.
  • Assist in planning and executing maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain effective systems for improving plant reliability.

  • Identify opportunities across the site to improve efficiency, lower costs, and reduce waste.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
  • Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or similar Engineering Degree is preferred
  • Working use of CMMS system, knowledge of Maximo preferred
  • Relevant experience with industrial manufacturing equipment 
  • Wood/Lumber/Forestry/Pulp & Paper/OSB Products and/or Mill knowledge beneficial
  • Computer proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Preventive Maintenance schedules, lubrication systems, vibration analysis, and related reliability engineering methods is required.
  • Experience in communicating and presenting data and technical concepts to audiences with varying backgrounds
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to adapt and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
