Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Generation Construction Supervisor (Mechanical Combustion Turbine) in Mulberry, FL. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of field installation subcontracted packagessafely direction of subcontractor’s work using a ZERO accident philosophy, and monitoring daily work activities to ensure subcontractors are supporting the overall project schedule. 
 
Rate$55.17/hr 
Work Schedule: During planning 5/10s, during outage 6/10s to 7/12s 

The supervisor will review the project design to identify any potential changes and work with contract personnel to review and approve any contract change notices. Will ensure the quality of all work performed and identify construction critical items that may have the potential to impact the work schedule, and monitor the project for work rule compliance.
 
Primary Duties / Responsibilities: 
  • Monitor and control contractors’ awarded work, ensuring it is safe, cost-effective, and environmentally compliant
  • Ensure the scope of work is planned, on schedule, within budget, and performed to quality standards
  • Identify critical items that may impact the project schedule
  • Review contractor daily progress and critical path activities through scheduled meetings
  • Plan and establish project schedules, following up on actual performance and productivity
  • Review project designs, tasks, and maintenance/outage scopes for constructability
  • Identify and evaluate potential project changes or roadblocks in advance
  • Review scope changes with management and the contracts department; ensure proper approvals before extra work is conducted
  • Receive work orders or project requests; estimate, plan, and develop scopes of work statements and field installation subcontract packages
  • Make purchases for engineered products, non-engineered products, and consumables to support subcontract packages
  • Support Outage & Project Management in bidding, evaluating bids, and awarding BOP turbine generator and auxiliary Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation contracts
  • Serve as liaison between contractors, engineering, station management, and O&PM team members
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to contractors and subcontractors, tracking progress on assigned projects
  • Inspect ongoing work to confirm contractor performance, QA/QC, and compliance with project plans, FME plans, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate all BOP turbine generator and auxiliary support equipment asset scopes from initiation through project completion, including commissioning, turnover to operations, and closeout
  • Reduce conflicts, bottlenecks, and delays to ensure contractor schedules are met
  • Participate in integrated teams for knowledge capture, long-term planning, scope development, estimating, budgeting, inspections, audits, procedure development, and system/equipment walkdowns
  • Maintain project documentation, including field data sheets, inspections, workforce needs, tracking logs for materials and equipment, and daily time sheet review
  • Review contractor daily/weekly/monthly reports and shift turnovers; review weekly productivity/cost reports
  • Administer awarded contracts and CSP for compliance; develop action item logs
  • Submit a personal daily log for each day worked
  • Perform other duties or special assignments as assigned by the Manager of Turbine Assets
 Education/Training
 Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Construction management training/experience is required. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 maintenance & construction safety requirements. Knowledge of construction codes, standards, and gas turbine/generator disassembly/reassembly and maintenance experience required.
  • Supervisor-Generation (Mechanical) for combustion turbines should have at least 10 years’ related experience in heavy industrial construction, construction management, maintenance,
  • Including 10 years of related or equivalent experience in job safety, project planning, estimating, scheduling, execution, use of hydraulic, pneumatic tools, use of bolt tensioning equipment, precision measuring tooling, tooling use safety, grinding, wire wheeling, rigging, piping, scaffolding, valves, gaskets, sealants, machining, welding, confined space, lock out tag out, housekeeping, millwright type mechanical work in a power plant or industrial environment.
  •  College degree may be considered with inclusion of a minimum of 6 years of field-related experience. 
  • Must possess strong leadership qualities, team-building skills, and work in a team environment.
 Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
  • Experience writing contract scopes of work and working with contract administrators
  • Ability to plan and organize Mechanical Combustion Turbine Generator projects to support project goals
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Outage coordination, planning, scheduling, and supervision experience
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical combustion turbine generators, auxiliary support equipment, and BOP assets
  • Supervising contractors' experience
  • Previous experience as millwright, foreman, superintendent, or technical field engineer from OEM, third party, or utility
  • Experience with GE 7FA gas turbines and generators
  • Proficient in CMMS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Primavera P6, Gantt Charts, Adobe Acrobat, email, and attaching photos to documents
  • Strong communication skills
 Preferred:
  • Experience in project management and technical training
  • Experience with GE frame 7FA gas turbines and generators, turbine operations, unit commissioning, outage planning for borescope inspections, hot gas path inspections, and major outage inspections
  • Experience executing centerline outages of turbines and generators, including auxiliary support equipment
  • Supervisory experience leading centerline outages from project initiation to completion
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Handle multiple duties and responsibilities and be accountable for those actions. Overtime work, nightshifts, and weekend work will be required during planned, forced outages and as directed by management. 
  • Must be able to travel to various power plant locations (Bayside, Big Bend, and Polk Power Station).
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The ability to climb stairs, scaffolds, ladders, wear a safety harness, enter and work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
