Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking Multiple Material Handlers for a contract-to-hire position in Indianapolis, IN.
Pay $22.50/hr
Summary: Responsible for receiving and storing purchased and inter-company transferred goods, as well as picking, packing, shipping, and distributing materials with the required documentation. This position also participates in physical inventories, supports manufacturing with timely material delivery, and ensures compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform manual and routine duties in shipping, receiving, material supply, and inventory control.
- Pick and pack items for outbound shipments.
- Receive all incoming materials, including cold-storage items, ensuring correct temperature storage. Inspect materials and verify against packing lists, bills of lading, purchase orders, discrete jobs, variances, MRAs, and related documentation. Report discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Document and label materials according to procedures.
- Deliver accepted items within 24 hours or promptly notify requestors upon receipt.
- Prepare related documentation and maintain files/records using appropriate computer systems.
- Operate material-handling equipment as necessary.
- Accurately pull and/or pack products for customer orders, discrete jobs, and related documents while ensuring FIFO, correct lot numbers, shipping temperature, address accuracy, and proper shipping methods.
- Produce accurate distribution documents and ensure timely customs clearance, where applicable.
- Prepare data for computer entry and review system-generated reports.
- Utilize PC and material/production/distribution tracking software.
- Ensure all distribution activities comply with company policies, cGMP requirements, ISO regulations, and carrier guidelines (FedEx, UPS, etc.).
- Schedule carriers for receipts and pickups; track inbound/outbound shipments and communicate updates promptly.
- Communicate daily with Customer Service, Manufacturing, R&D, Production, Planning, Purchasing, QA, and QC to support operational and customer needs.
- Maintain distribution areas in a clean, organized, and efficient manner.
- Coordinate required supplies with Purchasing.
- Maintain accurate inventory through ERP system entries.
- Perform daily cycle counts.
- Work overtime during peak periods, quarter-end, physical inventories, and on short notice as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 0–2 years of shipping and receiving experience.
- Inventory control and inbound/outbound shipping/receiving experience highly preferred.
- Oracle experience preferred.
- Ability to operate hand trucks and pallet movers.
- Ability to view computer screens and operate a keyboard and calculator.
- Ability to lift, tug, or pull up to 75 pounds and routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for up to 15 minutes at a time.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with good written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Demonstrated knowledge of receiving-related software and material handling equipment preferred.
