Job Description

Sirius Staffing is hiring multiple Packaging Machine Operators for a rotating day shift schedule in St. Louis, MO. 
 
Pay: $24 – $25/hr  BOE
 Schedule: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Rotating 2-week schedule
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
Week 2: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
 
This position operates machines and runs lines/automation (not hand filling). You will support operational functions, provide technical guidance, assist with the implementation of improvements, and works on departmental projects in order to ensure department and corporate objectives are satisfied.
 
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent; High school coursework in chemistry or 6 months of chemistry-related work experience preferred
  • 2–4 years of packaging experience preferred but not required
  • Forklift experience required
  • Must be clean-shaven
  • GMP experience preferred
 Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment and perform hand weighing operations; able to set up and run drum massager, delumper, filling machine, capper, automated labeler, and other ergonomic equipment
  • Knowledge of product flow throughout the packaging process
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a group setting
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • Ability to work quickly and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and team-building skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of people
Essential Job Functions
  • Provides training and operational support to the department
  • Maintains a high-quality work environment by sharing knowledge and experiences so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level
  • Keeps supervisor informed of potential and/or existing concerns
  • Leads by example in performing core packaging job elements by meeting or exceeding performance expectations, following health and safety guidelines, maintaining job accuracy, and following company and regulatory requirements
  • Participates in and supports the development and implementation of process improvement projects and leads test cycles to challenge current practices, improve system efficiency, enhance customer service, and maintain compliance
  • Troubleshoot problems within the department
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of department operating systems
  • Maintains orders, work areas, and stock locations in a safe, clean, and organized manner
  • Reports unsafe or potentially unsafe hazards to any member of management
  • Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned
  • Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule
 
Working Conditions
  • The packaging environment occasionally involves working near moving mechanical parts.
  • Employees are regularly required to wear appropriate PPE (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical-resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes, respirator) to protect from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors, or airborne particles.
  • The work area may occasionally be wet, humid, abnormally hot, or cold.
 Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, or crouch for long periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to talk, hear, taste, and smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift 55 pounds and/or move 300+ pounds without additional employee assistance.
  • Employee may be required to move more than 300+ pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly uses manufacturing equipment, powered industrial equipment, phones, computers, computer monitors, and all office/laboratory equipment.
