Production Technician

Contract : 1 year (with possible extension)
Location :Taylor, TX
Rate: $23.50/hr
Position Overview :
- Conduct daily maintenance of gas and chemical distribution systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform technical repairs, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on mechanical and process equipment.
- Read, interpret, and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and process flow documentation.
- Accurately document all work performed, including maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and process updates.
- Write and maintain technical documentation to support process development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support quality systems by ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and documentation requirements.
- Work with engineers to assemble, disassemble, and test mechanical systems, including manifolds, valves, containers, and instrumentation.
- Assist with startup, commissioning, and installation of mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Perform assembly, disassembly, inspection, labeling, packaging, storage, and shipment of chemical materials and hazardous waste.
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards in manufacturing, laboratory, and cleanroom environments.
- Acid wash Teflon, stainless steel valves, and vessels per established procedures.
- Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and perform helium leak checks on stainless steel containers and valves.
- Clean, dry, inspect, and apply PVC coating to quartz and borosilicate glassware.
- Package chemicals into quartz or stainless steel vessels while following safety and quality guidelines.
- Assist with inorganic and organic chemical consolidation and hazardous waste handling.
- Perform quality inspections and complete required documentation accurately.
- Utilize computers and Microsoft Excel to record, track, and maintain lab and operational data.
- Support inventory control, cycle counting, and documentation of customer-returned items.
- Operate forklifts and unload trucks as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement, safety reviews, and operational review processes.
- Trade or vocational school completion (Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) or an Associate Degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Chemical Engineering Technology, Automation Systems).
- Experience with PLCs, including basic troubleshooting.
- Experience with startup and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with gas and chemical delivery systems in ultra-high purity environments.
- Experience with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safe work practices.
- Ability to identify replacement parts and materials needed for mechanical repairs.
- Understanding of materials of construction and chemical compatibility.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Forklift operation experience.
