Sirius Staffing is seeking an experienced Buyer II for a direct-hire role in Tuscaloosa, AL. In this position, you'll be responsible for procuring engineered equipment, spare parts, chemicals, materials, supplies, and contracted servicesensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. This is a strategic purchasing role supporting operations at a leading industrial facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and procure engineered equipment, warehouse spare parts, operational chemicals, materials, and services—ensuring the best overall value in terms of price, quality, and lead time.
  • Develop and negotiate supply agreements using advanced procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Leverage company-wide spend data to implement value-added supply programs and long-term sourcing strategies.
  • Implement and maintain electronic procurement tools, including EDI systems, to streamline and automate purchasing processes for warehouse inventory management.
  • Obtain and evaluate competitive bids and proposals, analyze complex offers, and make recommendations based on best value.
  • Collaborate with engineering firms, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure optimal sourcing and coordination of goods and services.
  • Conduct market analysis and forecasting for key commodities, identifying risks in the supply chain and taking proactive steps to address price, quality, or availability issues.
  • Identify and pre-qualify new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliability, and the lowest total cost of ownership.
  • Address supplier performance issues and expedite orders when necessary to meet operational needs.
  • Manage the addition of new spare parts to inventory, ensuring accurate commercial documentation and data.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews to assess compliance and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Research product specifications and conduct value analysis to ensure products meet functional requirements at the lowest cost.
  • Serve as a team leader and mentor to junior purchasing staff, supporting cross-training and knowledge sharing.
  • Review contractual agreements to ensure they meet company standards before legal review and final execution.
  • Use the ERP system (Oracle/JD Edwards EnterpriseOne) to generate purchase orders and track procurement card transactions.
  • Utilize the corporate purchasing card program for low-dollar purchases.
  • Provide backup support to other buyers or the purchasing coordinator as needed.
  • Contribute to departmental and company-wide procurement goals and initiatives with minimal supervision.
 Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Management is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain; experience in petroleum refining, petrochemical, or chemical processing industries is strongly preferred.
  • Must possess both technical and commercial knowledge in purchasing highly specialized, engineered equipment.
  • Strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional integrity are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in business software applications and enterprise procurement systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Results-driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Valid driver's license required.
