Lab Technician
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Lab Technician in The Woodlands, TX. We're looking for someone with hands-on, on-the-job lab experience. If you’ve already spent time working in a lab setting and are eager to take your skills to the next level, this role is for you. It's a great opportunity to deepen your lab knowledge, gain experience in oligonucleotide production, and build a strong foundation for a career in biotech manufacturing.
Rate: $20/hr. 7% Shift differential will be added when you transition to your assigned shift
Shift: 2 pm - 10:30 pm CST Mon-Fri after training (The training schedule is M–F, 7a -4p )
What you will do:
- Prepare production batches and determine appropriate routes per specifications
- Synthesize oligonucleotides using multiple platforms; includes modifications and conjugations
- Perform cleavage and deprotection based on product requirements
- Purify materials using various methods and submit fractions for QC review
- Prepare reagents and stock raw materials
- Label, cap, and kit product containers as needed
- Perform quantification and normalize the concentration of products
- Use both manual and automated liquid handling techniques for sampling, dilutions, aliquots, and transfers
- Accurately follow procedures and use LIMS for documentation at each step
- Dispose of waste and hazardous materials safely
- Follow SOPs to meet quality and production standards
- Inspect products to ensure they meet specifications
- Conduct routine equipment checks, cleaning, and sanitization
- Complete accurate production and quality records
- Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional departments
What you need to qualify:
- Bachelor’s degree (Life Sciences or related field)
- Must have previous OTJ lab experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage priorities
- Solid computer skills (MS Office, experience with lab software a plus)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to flammable solvents, corrosives, and other lab chemicals
- PPE required (lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, etc.)
- Standing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 lbs), pushing/pulling
- Visual acuity and color distinction required
- May require occasional climbing or use of hands for fine motor tasks
- Clear speaking and hearing abilities for communication
