Research Lab Technician
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Research Lab Technician for an opportunity to work with a manufacturing client in the Havre de Grace, MD area. This is a long term contract role. Please contact Sirius today for more information.
The ideal candidate will have a Chemistry background and be familiar with small batch processes.
Rate: 28-30hr.
Work schedule:
M - F 8am-5pm
Responsibilities:
- Must be able to safely work in a laboratory and pilot plant setting. This includes routinely working with hazardous chemicals and energies, and adherence to all safety procedures.
- Plan, conduct, and document testing and experimentation of developmental and finished products under the guidance of the project manager while accurately reporting (written and verbal) results.
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory and process equipment including working with vendors
- Able to coordinate and secure raw materials from the pilot plant for laboratory product development.
- Package and ship samples to internal and external customers
- Set up and operate standard and new/nonstandard laboratory equipment with minimal supervision, including but not limited to Parr pressure reactors.
- Assist analytical and RD&I scientists in new method development
- Good oral and communication skills are required
- Assist in training of laboratory technicians.
- Carry out a range of research activities either to support others or to fulfill the requirements of the role.
- Conduct scientific experiments and tests and contribute to the translation of results into practical applications.
- Extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
- Develop testing standards and procedures under the direction of professional colleagues.
- Produce accurate reports for others by collecting data from a variety of standard sources and inputting it into standard formats.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred
- High school/ Associate degree with at least 3 years of laboratory experience
- Sound experience and understanding of straightforward laboratory procedures or systems.
- Basic experience working in a chemistry laboratory.
- Basic computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with SAP preferred
