Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking an Operations Liaison Lead/Supervisor for a position in Montz, LA. You will serve as the lead person on shift in the operation and maintenance of systems in a fossil fuel-fired power generation facility. Must be qualified to operate Drum/Supercritical Unit.

$69.48/hr + Benefits offered 

Job Summary/Purpose: 
  • Demonstrates safety awareness, environmental, and regulatory compliance while improving performance through procedures and processes.
  • Serves as a contract manager over scheduled work, including managing associated budgets.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Champion over assigned applications or processes such as Risk Management Assessments, PCI/Epower, and Simulator Training.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the lead on shift, providing work direction to others.
  • Ensures assigned work results in safe and reliable plant operation.
  • Facilitates and coordinates Shift Safety meetings / Job Briefings for all personnel on shift.
  • Promotes and ensures a safe work environment, including the use of Human Performance tools.
  • Mentors and trains employees in the operations training progression plan.
  • Responsible for Contractor Safety, including conducting Contractor Safety Orientations as needed.
  • Fills in for Team Leaders in their absence.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance, proactively avoiding reportable violations and coordinating with agencies if an event occurs.
  • Performs site safety/environmental audits and mitigates hazards.
  • Makes real-time decisions and provides work direction for safe, efficient, and reliable equipment operation.
  • Performs startup and shutdown functions for boiler, turbine, generator, and associated equipment as required per SPO - Energy Management Organization instructions.
  • Ensures adequate shift coverage when unplanned absences occur after hours.
  • Works as the designated lead control board operator upon completing all board operator qualifications.
Operational duties include:
  • Operating the control board.
  • Making operational rounds.
  • Performing PM/PDM activities.
  • Managing boiler water chemistry.
  • Conducting CEMS monitoring and calibrations.
  • Leading the development and review of operating procedures and rounds.
Technical Responsibilities:
  • Applies knowledge of plant systems, including:
    • Burner controls (where applicable).
    • Turbine controls.
    • Data acquisition and process controls.
    • Regulating devices.
    • Troubleshooting.
  • Performs inspections, calibrations, installations, repairs, diagnostics, testing, and troubleshooting of complex instrumentation equipment and regulating devices.
  • May perform mechanical work, including:
    • Inspection, repair, and installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment.
    • Preventive maintenance (PM) of mechanical systems.
Minimum Experience Required:
  • Must have completed all current qualifications to be a certified control board operator in the designated plant.
  • 6+ years’ experience in CCGT or fossil fuel-fired power generation facility in an Operations or Maintenance role.
  • Other power plant operations, maintenance, or electrical experience.
  • Upon progression to this level, the employee should have completed all the board operator qualifications and be working as the designated lead control board operator. 
  • Must have completed all current qualifications to be a certified control board operator in the designated plant, as well as have 6+ years’ experience in a CCGT or fossil fuel-fired power generation facility in an Operation or Maintenance position, or 6+ years of other power plant operations/maintenance/electrical experience.
  • Desired 10+ years’ experience working on drum or supercritical units
     
Desired Qualifications:
  • Curriculum including:
    • AC/DC Theory.
    • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) – troubleshooting and logic development.
    • Process control valve positioners.
    • Water chemistry analytical instrumentation.
    • Calibration practices and procedures.
    • Other similar coursework and/or experience.
