Lead Manufacturing Operator
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is urgently hiring a Lead Manufacturing Operator in Lenexa, KS. This is a long-term career opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent position in 3–6 months, based on performance and business needs. Upon conversion, employees receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus.
? Schedule & Pay:
- Orientation/Training: Day shift (8 AM – 4 PM) before transitioning to assigned night shift.
- Regular Schedule: 12-hour rotating night shift (7 PM – 7 AM) on a 2/3/3/2 rotation.
- Pay Rate: $26.25/hr + 10% shift differential once on nights.
? Key Details:
- This role is in a specialty chemical manufacturing facility working with Dry Powdered Media (DPM).
- As a Lead Operator, you will oversee daily tasks and support the development of production personnel through process training.
- Note: Facial hair that interferes with respirator use is not permitted
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all production procedures follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain product quality.
- Assist Leads and Supervisors with projects, shift handoffs, and updates on visual management boards.
- Lead daily task assignments and ensure compliance with quality and PPE guidelines.
- Operate and set up equipment according to standard procedures.
- Assemble and disassemble complex process equipment and piping for cleaning and inspection.
- Identify equipment malfunctions and take approved corrective actions, such as adjustments or reconfiguration.
- Report equipment failures and collaborate with Maintenance by creating work orders in SAP.
- Document and communicate process, product, and equipment status, reporting any deviations.
- Perform equipment and facility cleaning procedures, including decontamination and Hot CIP.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and batch record documentation in real time.
- Assist in updating production procedures while ensuring quality standards.
- Suggest and support continuous process improvements using lean manufacturing principles.
- Perform other job-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior leadership or training experience.
- Experience with dry product processing and packaging.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in process equipment maintenance or mechanical systems.
- Manufacturing experience, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to use Word and Excel for downtime tracking and shift reports.
- Problem-solving mindset focused on optimizing production and minimizing downtime.
- Ability to lead a 5-minute shift handoff meeting to communicate key updates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in all Manufacturing Tech 1 and 2 duties.
- Ability to read and follow SOPs, Work Instructions, and Master Batch Records (MBR).
- Physical ability to lift 5 lbs. for up to six hours and occasionally lift to 50 lbs.
- Capability to maneuver mechanical components up to 100+ lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in controlled environments.
- Strong math, reading, and problem-solving skills.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity; ability to perform repetitive tasks and distinguish colors.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Leadership skills with integrity and accountability.
- Must report any medical conditions that could impact product quality.
- Ability to pass an annual physical exam.
Preferred:
- 2–5 years of related manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate degree in a maintenance-related field with 1–2 years of relevant maintenance experience.
Training Responsibilities:
- Train new operators, assess their performance, and sign off on duties and shop floor transactions.
- Monitor new hires and employees to ensure they perform tasks correctly.
- Ensure new hires' LMS records are accurate and completed on time.
- Provide supervisors and leads with feedback on new hire progress.
- Participate in training programs as assigned
