Job Title: Material Handler
Location: Carlsbad, NM
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Assignment Type: Contract (due to a spike in business needs)

Position Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient loading of shipments and packaging of finished goods at the Carlsbad facility. This role involves operating material handling equipment, adhering to safety and quality standards, and ensuring compliance with domestic shipping regulations for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and strong attention to detail while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load shipments and package finished goods with minimal supervision
  • Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, drum dollies, and power pallet jacks
  • Maintain compliance with domestic shipping regulations, including hazardous materials shipping
  • Review logistics paperwork such as Bills of Lading and other shipping documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor satellite warehouses and docks for adherence to continuous improvement and housekeeping standards
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of solutions for identified hazards
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with other departments and team members
  • Support basic safety principles and escalate abnormal or unsafe conditions appropriately
  • Maintain manufacturing Kan Bans and assist in various operational tasks as needed
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; SAP experience preferred
  • Complete all mandatory EH&S and company training programs

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in shipping or warehouse operations, preferably with hazardous materials
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Basic knowledge of containers and products manufactured at the Carlsbad facility
    • Ability to understand and apply quality systems and documentation requirements
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
    • Safety-conscious mindset with ability to identify and escalate risks
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
