Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician for a Specialty Chemical Facility in the Trexlertown, PA area.  The Laboratory Technician performs accurate and timely mechanical and physical testing of routine and non-routine lab samples per appropriate laboratory and safety guidelines, ensuring that results and samples meet internal and external customer requirements.  
 
This is a long-term contract working for a Specialty Chemical Facility in the Trexlertown, PA area.

GENERAL PURPOSE: 
 The Laboratory Technician will also participate in laboratory investigations, equipment evaluations and qualifications, and quality improvement initiatives.  The role includes preparing and maintaining standard operating procedure (SOP), hazard review, setting up analytical equipment, performing equipment maintenance and calibration, safeguarding samples and testing records, and performing all the above safely.
  
Qualifications 
  • Associate Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent
  • 1 year of mechanical testing experience
  • Experience with high-temperature polymers
  • Good mechanical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow testing procedures (SOP, ISO, ASTM)
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate testing procedures and solve problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in method development
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to work overtime if needed
 
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:  
  • Sample Testing, Analysis, and Reporting:
  • Accurately perform all technical procedures within the area of responsibility
  • Knowledgeable and proficient at the use of laboratory data management systems, maintaining logbooks and test records
  • Document reviewer for laboratory procedures
  • Generate lab reports as requested
  • Interpret and follow material testing standards (ISO, ASTM, internal) & safety data sheets (SDS)
  • Understand the prioritization of lab tasks and reprioritization as appropriate
  • Support maintenance, modifications, improvements, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment
  • Systematically approach troubleshooting and can assist with the resolution of most complex problems
 
Other Lab Support:
  • Quality compliance efforts
  • ESHS compliance, adhere to all ESHS programs, policies, and procedures 
  • Logistics efforts
