Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care for a long-term contract-to-direct role in Chattanooga, TN. In this role, under the general supervision of a physician, you will perform advanced professional nursing duties. Please contact us today for more information.
Schedule: 8:30-4:30 Mon-Fri
Rate: $37.53 – $46.91/HR BOE + Benefits offered, PTO & Holidays
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary care services, including physical exams and sick care, to individuals experiencing homelessness in the field and at shelter sites
- Deliver primary care and reproductive health services for both men and women, including:
- Conducting patient history and physical examinations
- Drawing blood and ordering lab work/tests
- Evaluating test results and adjusting care plans accordingly
- Diagnosing conditions and developing treatment plans
- Prescribing medications as needed
- Placing and removing contraceptive implants & issuing contraceptives, and providing therapies under approved protocols
- Making specialist referrals and ordering consultations
- Educating clients on public health services and available community resources
- Consulting with a supervising physician as needed
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities, such as:
- Continuing education and training courses
- Peer reviews and mentoring healthcare colleagues
- Policy and protocol development and updates
- Attend and engage in:
- Standing committees, community meetings, and board meetings
- Outreach and mobile medical events
- Travel to various County clinic locations to deliver services
- Collaborate regularly with the program manager to review and revise program goals
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- A registered nurse with a Master’s Degree with a major in the clinical nursing specialty of family practice and preparation in specialized practitioner skills.
- Must have a Certificate of Fitness issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing; must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered professional nurse in Tennessee, and current national certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area. A valid driver’s license is required.
OR:
- A registered nurse who holds an Advanced Practice Nurse Certificate, as deemed by the Tennessee Board of Nursing, with specialized practitioner skills in the clinical nursing specialty of family practice.
- Must have a Certificate of Fitness issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing; must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered professional nurse in Tennessee, and current national certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area. A valid driver’s license is required.
OR:
- A new graduate with a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing may be considered but must be eligible to sit for the Advanced Practice Nurse Certification test and be eligible to apply for a certificate of Fitness issued by the Tennessee Board of Nursing plus a minimum of 500 hours of working or training as a clinician in a primary care setting. If hired, the new graduate must obtain Advanced Practice Nurse Certification in the appropriate nursing specialty area and a Certificate of Fitness within three (3) months of hire. A valid driver’s license is required.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of primary care nursing practices, including federal, state, and county laws and regulations related to professional standards, prescribing, and dispensing medications
- Knowledge of public health care practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with culturally sensitive care, especially for underserved populations.
- Knowledge of program development and implementation methods, practices, and procedures.
- Skilled in performing medical assessments, interpreting results, and prescribing treatments in line with applicable guidelines and laws
- Ability to respond to patient needs and concerns with professionalism and a strong customer service approach
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including documentation, education, and relationship-building with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to deliver care with compassion, cultural awareness, and a collaborative approach
