Packaging Operator
Job Description
- Operate packaging equipment (bag/FIBC fillers, stretch wrappers, hammer mills, deaeration, etc.) safely and efficiently.
- Must understand and comply with site ESHQ procedures, cGMP, and SOPs.
- Perform field quality tests and documentation.
- Perform essential maintenance, changeover set up, and troubleshooting of packaging equipment.
- Correctly complete and submit work orders for equipment failures that require maintenance.
- Clean and purge packaging equipment
- Safely and properly operate a forklift.
- Accountable for Line performance (OEE) and able to effectively communicate the hourly status of the line to affected personnel to ensure timely resolution of issues (i.e., Supervisors, Engineers)
- Maintain a good attendance record within policy guidelines.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and personal behavior towards peers, management, and company.
- High School education or General Equivalence Diploma required.
- Preferred candidate will have previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must possess a good attitude and strong work ethic.
- Must be dependable and have a high degree of integrity.
- Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work independently, and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with pumps, valves, and motors preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Office platform preferred.
- Ability to work in a production environment where heat, cold, dust, and discomfort are standard. Be willing to work a flexible schedule and overtime (nights and weekends when needed)
- Ability to lift 40lbs consistently with repetitive motion.
- Lifting 30 - 40lbs bags from packing equipment, up to 50 bags per hour, carrying bags 6 feet, and palletizing using an adjustable height platform
- Requires bending to the first level of about 1 ft and reaching the top level at 5.5 ft
- Ability to perform physical tasks for 12-hour periods including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
- Ability to frequently climb flights of stairs and ladders of multi-level buildings.
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, gloves, and a respirator when required.
