Parts Master
Job Description
- High school diploma required.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in warehouse activities, shipyard parts knowledge, or employee supervision.
- Familiarity with materials used in the construction and repair of vessels.
- Proficient in basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Conduct research on parts information before assigning part numbers.
- Develop and enforce standardized part description attributes.
- Create parts in the inventory module of the MRP system.
- Create and maintain purchase part records in the MRP system.
- Create supplier purchase part catalog records in the MRP system.
- Manage and maintain purchase part and supplier purchase part catalogs in the MRP system, including primary suppliers, current part prices, lead times, unit of measure (UOM), and conversion factors. Perform data mining as needed.
- Initiate contacts to sell or return excess material for scrap value or full/partial credit, with support from warehousing/material control.
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, engineering, and other departments to utilize excess material instead of ordering new or duplicate materials.
- Conduct project reconciliations upon project completion to clear excess project inventory from the system.
- Assist warehouse personnel in resolving discrepancies.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of procurement functions to serve as a backup for Purchasing Clerk and Expeditor roles.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to employee safety, environmental policy, and quality system principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by management.
- Work overtime as required.
- Consistently report to work on time and on a daily basis.
