Process Improvement & Optimization
  • Identify and implement improvements in safety, reliability, and profitability
  • Design and support execution of process modifications
  • Lead MOC preparation and approval efforts
  • Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting of projects
  • Drive energy optimization and cost reduction initiatives
Technical & Cross-Functional Impact
  • Serve as a technical resource across departments
  • Support environmental compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to development and improvement of unit procedures
  • Support training efforts within operations
This role offers real ownership and visibility across the refinery.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
Established refinery with strong operational culture
Meaningful impact — not buried in layers of corporate bureaucracy
 Cross-functional exposure and leadership growth
 Community-focused employer invested in Tuscaloosa
Ideal for engineers who value both career growth and quality of life
We are particularly interested in:
  • Engineers open to relocating to Tuscaloosa
  • Professionals who previously lived in the area and want to return
  • Candidates who value community involvement and long-term roots
Qualifications
Required:
  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering
  • 3–6 years of refinery experience (hands-on process engineering experience required)
  • Experience supporting refinery processing units
  • Exposure to PSM programs including HAZOP and MOC
  • Strong troubleshooting and data analysis capabilities
Preferred:
  • Experience with process modeling or equipment rating software
  • Demonstrated leadership in process improvement initiatives
Work Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to support turnarounds and occasional on-call rotation
  • Must be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection, including SCBA (up to 35 lbs)
  • Must meet clean-shaven requirements for respirator seal compliance
