Process Engineer
Job Description
- Communicate resource plans and needs for assigned projects to the Discipline Manager and seek resources with the manager's assistance.
- Lead engineers on projects/proposals assigned, including attendance at all required project meetings, project reporting, and oversight/direction of support staff assigned to the project.
- Provide technical oversight, assign tasks to junior or mid-level engineers, and monitor project progress as needed.
- Make client site visits to support project execution and/or proposal activity.
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports, and follow required checking procedures.
- Develop, check, and be the technical owner and approver of process engineering deliverables: Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances (HMBs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Process models in Chemcad, Aspen HYSYS, or other simulation software
- Line sizing, velocity and pressure drop calculations.
- Develop process engineering scope of work, proposals, and professional services estimates for assigned projects.
- Equipment sizing calculations and specifications for process equipment, including bulk separation vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control valves, PSV’s, etc.
- Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) overpressure analysis and sizing
- Relief system (flare) evaluation and analysis
- Process engineering studies, process basis of design documents and technical reports.
- Maintain Management of Change (MoC) logs for assigned projects. Seek client approval for design changes and document decisions and actions taken.
- Respond promptly to interdisciplinary inquiries and requests for review.
- Review and comment on inter-disciplinary deliverables such as piping layouts, isometrics, 3D models, mechanical equipment specifications, etc.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 5+ years of industry-related experience
- Professional Engineer Certification preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
- Strong written and oral communication skills for both internal and external
