Safety Foreman
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Shipyard Safety Foreman for a temp to hire role in Pensacola, FL. The Shipyard Safety Coordinator oversees daily health, safety, and environmental (HSE) operations within the shipyard. This role ensures compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1915 (Shipyard Employment), 29 CFR 1910 (General Industry), and U.S. Coast Guard regulations. The Coordinator serves as the on-site safety leader and Competent Person, maintaining safe work practices for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety inspections of yard, vessels, dry dock, and shop areas
- Enforce OSHA and company safety policies
- Manage Hot Work, Confined Space, and Lockout/Tagout permits
- Serve as Confined Space Competent Person
- Participate in emergency response and provide First Aid/CPR as needed
- Conduct safety training, orientations, and respirator fit testing
- Perform hazard assessments and assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
- Inspect rigging, lifting equipment, and safety systems
- Maintain safety documentation, reports, and corrective action tracking
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of shipyard, maritime, or industrial safety experience
- Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1915 and 1910
- Confined Space Competent Person certification (required)
- CPR/First Aid certification (required)
- Respirator Fit Test certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in physically demanding environments
Outdoor shipyard environment with exposure to noise, confined spaces, and elevated work areas. Must be able to wear required PPE and respond to emergencies as needed.
