Senior Planner Scheduler
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Senior Planner Scheduler to support construction, operations, and maintenance planning activities for utility and field operations in Tampa, FL.
Pay: $34.48/ hour
Summary:
This role is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and optimizing work activities, resources, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient execution of scheduled and emergency work. The Senior Planner Scheduler works closely with Operations, Field Engineering, Construction Crews, and Contractors to ensure job readiness, proper scheduling, and efficient resource utilization. This position performs complex planning and scheduling assignments, works across multiple functional areas, and exercises independent decision-making in day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide planning, organizing, logistics, and coordination support to Operations.
- Administer work requests and coordinate scheduled and unplanned crew work related to trouble memos and follow-up activities.
- Monitor material and equipment availability to ensure work readiness.
- Assist in optimizing construction and operations resources across planning and scheduling functions.
- Develop and validate job plans, including job sequence, labor hours, material requirements, equipment needs, and coordination requirements.
- Prepare and maintain a weekly four-week look-ahead schedule of planned work.
- Participate in Plan of the Week meetings to review upcoming schedules.
- Provide construction documentation packages to Operations, including work requests, job plans, drawings, maps, and permits.
- Finalize work requests and create follow-up work requests for site restoration, pole pickup, and related activities.
- Reconcile material issues with Stores and Accounting as needed.
- Coordinate job plans with other Planner-Schedulers and communicate scheduling updates to leadership and operations teams.
- Assist Field Engineers, Supervisors, and Managers with workload planning, job readiness, and resource availability.
Responsibilities
- Perform Planner Scheduler I & II duties independently.
- Determine special job requirements for complex projects (traffic control, signage, work area protection, equipment needs, etc.).
- Develop multi-week schedule packages for large-scale jobs.
- Prepare, analyze, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Identify process improvements and solutions to scheduling or resource issues.
- Mentor and support less experienced Planner-Schedulers.
- Serve as backup supervisor when needed.
- Support storm restoration planning and emergency response scheduling.
Qualifications
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: Associate degree, technical degree, or technical certification
Experience
- Minimum 1 year as a Planner Scheduler II, OR
- Minimum 8 years of operations experience, including planning and scheduling
- Experience with work management systems, GIS, and Microsoft Office required
- Experience with WORKPro strongly preferred
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with GIS, Work Management Systems (WORKPro), and Microsoft Office
- Ability to update and maintain facilities in GIS
- Ability to perform complex planning and scheduling assignments independently
- Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
