Job Description

Sirius Staffing is seeking a Process Control Systems Engineer (DCS) for a long-term contract opportunity at a large chemical manufacturing site. The Process Controls Engineer must have experience with Siemens PCS 7 or Emerson DeltaV The position is based in Theodore, AL, but may require travel related to the project workload, including site visits for project walk-downs, construction phases, commissioning, and startup.
$70/hr (no per diem or relo offered) 
 
This Engineer will design, configure, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for industrial automation projects, ensuring efficient and reliable operation throughout all project phases, from specification and hardware layout to commissioning and startup.

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in a senior-level role.
  • Hands-on experience with all aspects of DCS systems, including specifying, hardware layout, configuration, and graphics design.
  • Must be familiar with remote I/O concepts from Siemens PCS 7 or Emerson DeltaV (e.g., CHARMS or ET200SP HA).
  • Experience generating system configuration from scratch.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, and developing instrumentation loop sheets and electrical motor schematics.
  • Ability to understand and work with P&ID drawings.
  • Comfortable configuring a system both independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience working on systems of various sizes, ranging from 50 IO to 5000 IO systems.
  • Field experience with commissioning and startup phases of projects, with the ability to work in the field.
  • Working knowledge of field instrumentation, including IO design related to field instruments and electrical connections to automation systems.
  • Ability to generate cost estimates related to process controls, including instrument selection/installation, control system selection/configuration, commissioning, and startup.
  • Understanding various communication protocols used with Control Systems, such as HART, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, and Modbus TCP.
  • Fully capable of functioning as a DCS lead engineer on large, multi-discipline projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a project team.
  • Fully capable and comfortable working in a chemical plant environment.
 
Education: 
  • Electrical or Computer Engineering degree preferred
  • High school diploma or Equivalent required 
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience working on batch production systems.
  • Experience with safety systems (SIS), batch systems, and knowledge of IEC61511 code requirements.
