Senior Project Manager
Job Description
- Oversee, lead, and manage multi-discipline heavy industrial projects from inception to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Lead interdepartmental teams to meet project specifications with accuracy and efficiency.
- Act as liaison, facilitating meetings between clients, project teams, and vendors
- Review and implement project budgets, bids, contracts, and schedules using advanced project management software for real-time tracking.
- Monitor project progress through inspections, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Approve expenditures, enforce rules, and make decisions on materials and services purchases.
- Coordinate cost and time management, keeping current summaries of actual and projected expenditures.
- Oversee project close-out activities, including punch lists, certificates of substantial completion, and final payments.
- Perform complex assignments with minimal supervision, using professional judgment.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to project team members
- Conduct detailed cost analyses and dynamic risk assessments, providing mitigation recommendations
- Address concerns, questions, and complaints throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
- Perform other related duties as required
- This position has project-specific management responsibilities.
- BS or MS degree in a related field (engineering, project management, or engineering technology) from an accredited university (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 8 to 15+ years of relevant project management experience, preferably in the EPC industrial sector
- Proven track record of managing complex projects, including construction, engineering, estimating, contracts management, and client relations
- PMP, PgMP, CAPM, or similar project management certifications preferred
- Strong managerial and leadership skills with experience in building high-performance work cultures and systems
- Solid business acumen with knowledge of EPC work processes, cost control, scheduling, and administrative practices
- Significant experience in vendor selection, technical negotiation, and drafting/reviewing contracts
- Teamwork, flexibility, integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to high-quality work
- Proficient in Primavera, MS Project, and advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
- Broad knowledge of chemical, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical documents, including prints and drawings
- Knowledge of using inspection tools, measuring, and test equipment
- Ability to understand policies, procedures, and processes
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet company driving and TWIC card requirements
- Must pass background checks, drug and alcohol tests, and participate in random drug testing
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Limited travel required, primarily for project-related meetings between company offices and site visits with little or no notice to support project execution and proposals
- Must be willing to travel overnight and work out of town as needed
- Normal office environment with moderate noise, with occasional site visits to customer facilities or other office locations
- Exposure to outdoor weather, loud noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles during site visits
- Safety glasses and other safety equipment provided as needed for site visits
- Normal hearing, vision (including depth perception and focus), and the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, bend, stoop, and occasionally reach overhead
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to drive a company vehicle to job sites or office locations and participate in job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in hot climate conditions
- Lifting to 25 pounds may be required
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and use a keyboard
