        JOB DESCRIPTION- Sr. Quality Engineer
 
The Senior Quality Engineer position will develop and maintain quality systems for the production of Thermoplastic Film and Sheet. The incumbent demonstrates technical leadership in continuously improving Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and Polycarbonate (PC) film and sheet quality, investigate and correct related quality issues.

Major Activities:


  • Strategically drives the Quality Management process by directing internal ISO audits, issue non-conforming reports, and perform corrective actions, in order to achieve a higher level of process reliability
  • Provide work direction to Quality Technicians, Production employees, Process Technicians in making quality related decisions.
  • Monitor and report supplier performance, including managing the Approved Vendor List, metrics and statistical analysis of incoming materials, audits of suppliers, and lead the Nonconforming Materials Process, for the TPU and Polycarbonate films businesses.
  • Maintain, review, and recommend changes to all raw materials, intermediate and finished goods specifications. Analyze performance through product auditing procedures.
  • Lead and analyze statistical process and product capability parameters, in order to recommend / review customer specification requirements, and recommend and negotiate acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and examine quality audits of production performance, troubleshooting quality problems in manufacturing, fielding issues as needed.
  • Ensure Risk Analyses Updates following Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) based on new findings, support Automotive PPAP’s and the Covestro GMP process for regulated applications. Communicate the results internally with the Product Safety (PSRA) and Technical Product Management (TPM) functions.
  • Perform Reproducibility and Repeatability (R&R’s) on various laboratory and production quality equipment and develop/ establish testing procedures.
  • Recommend, obtain, install, startup, and reduce to practice new quality equipment and laboratory test methods as necessary to monitor product quality and product attributes.
  • Initiate and Lead various Quality Improvement Programs as needed.
  • Conduct specific complaint investigations as needed, providing technical continuous improvement support to the customer complaint process.
  • Build and train Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based on the results of the above.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ChE degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of industrial experience in a quality assurance and, or quality management role, or process or product development.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Additional experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of TPU and/or PC films.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent quality system.
  • Skilled in Technical Writing and Statistical Analysis (such as JMP or MiniTab).
  • Process Analysis Skills (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, and capability to lead team projects.
  • Capability and motivation to perform in the office, in the lab, and on the production floor.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word). MS Access and SAP familiarity
