Job Description

Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Operator
Pay Rate: $25.78/hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Havre de Grace, MD 21078 

The Shipping & Receiving Operator is responsible for safely and accurately performing loading and unloading duties for trucks and railcars, including rail shifting operations. This role ensures accurate documentation, scheduling of shipments, and coordination with other departments to maintain on-time deliveries. The position also contributes to operational efficiency improvements, supports ESH&Q initiatives, and follows all safety procedures and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely load and unload trucks and railcars; perform rail shifting duties.
  • Accurately complete invoice documentation and schedule trucks and railcars.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to maintain on-time ship dates.
  • Partner with site functional groups to identify and implement efficiency improvements and cost-saving measures.
  • Support plant and organizational ESH&Q initiatives.
  • Follow all procedures, instructions, and safety requirements related to job tasks.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Fork truck license required; must obtain rail shifter license after training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of SAP required.
  • Strong communication skills; team-oriented and collaborative.
  • Self-starter with ability to multi-task, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in production environments with varying conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.) and work flexible schedules or overtime when needed.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators and hearing protection.
  • Experience with pumps, valves, and motors preferred.
