Site Accountant
Location: Salinas, CA, Urbandale, IA

 Overall Description:
 We are seeking a Site Accountant responsible for all site-related accounting activities, including cost control against the plan, working capital management, capital spend analysis, and product costings. This position can be based in Salinas, CA, or Urbandale, IA.
 
COMPENSATION: The annual base salary range is $100,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from the posted hiring range based on geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze, interpret, and adjust site management accounts for accurate financial reporting. 
  • Resolve any identified issues immediately with relevant departments. These issues are highly confidential and can be short to long-term. 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (Cowick Ordinance) and international accounting standards (IFRS) in order to satisfy internal and external auditing and regulatory expectations.
  • Monitors and advises on control of working capital to optimize cash flow.
  • Analyze and track capital projects and expenditures, including management reports and SAP tasks.
  • Conduct regular financial meetings with departmental heads to discuss site profitability, including working capital control, revenue costs, and fixed asset cost control issues.
  • Communicate regularly with departmental site and head office departmental heads, including internal or external auditors. 
  • Manage inventory management and costing systems, including monthly stock valuation, product costings, analysis of gross margins and standard cost variances, physical stock counting, and overhead allocations.
  • Support sales and marketing with product costing and input into BOMs and product routings.
  • Coordinate and present periodic and annual strategic planning processes over all departments to senior management.
  • Support internal and external audits and comply with auditor requests 
  • Produce monthly and periodic reports for senior management.
  • Provide financial and inventory support for decision-making
  • Manage site-specific sales and use tax compliance and other regulatory requirements

 SPECIFIC REGULATORY/ LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure local sales and use tax compliance as applicable.

 REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance. CPA or CMA Certification preferred.
  • Prior experience with cost accounting in a manufacturing business.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the technical agriculture industry.
  • High degree of competence in all SAP accounting and inventory management functions.
  • SAP product/batch and overhead absorption costing.
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards.
  • Experience with internal & external audits and control procedures.
  • Understanding of site regulatory requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate business procedures.
  • Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language.
  • Competent computer skills: SAP, MS Office, (advanced MS Excel, pivot tables)

  • Ability to plan multiple activities with competing priorities. 
  • Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and work standards.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS          
 Ability to walk, sit, and/or stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. May be required to move throughout production areas on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and be exposed to airborne substances and outside temperatures/ weather.

 Travel: 20-40% dependent on location.
