Warehouse Operator
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Material Controller for a contract position in Carlsbad, CA. Please contact Sirius for more information.
The Shipping Operator III will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling, packaging, and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This role requires a strong understanding of shipping procedures, adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with various departments to meet operational goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Preferred 1–3 years of experience in shipping, with familiarity in handling hazardous materials.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of product containers and materials manufactured at the facility.
- Competency in domestic shipping processes for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Ability to review logistics paperwork (e.g., bills of lading) to identify and resolve abnormal conditions.
- Proficiency in utilizing spreadsheets, forms, and quality systems
- Strong safety awareness, with the ability to identify and escalate safety hazards appropriately.
- Team-oriented mindset with initiative to follow supervisor directions and contribute effectively.
- Experience with continuous improvement processes, maintaining Kan Bans, and ensuring satellite warehouse compliance.
- Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, power pallet jacks, and drum dollies.
- Multitasking capability while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise professionally with other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); SAP experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely perform daily loading and packaging of shipments with minimal supervision.
- Identify and escalate abnormal conditions related to safety or shipping functions.
- Ensure adherence to the site’s continuous improvement and housekeeping requirements.
- Participate in safety audits, develop solutions to identified hazards, and follow PPE matrix requirements.
- Complete and document all mandatory EH&S training and new hire orientation.
- Maintain a basic understanding of emergency response protocols and life safety systems.
- Monitor logistics processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
