Wastewater Clerk
Job Description
Sirius Staffing is seeking a Wastewater Clerk for a position with a government organization in Chattanooga, TN. This role provides administrative, billing, and customer service support for wastewater operations and serves as a primary point of contact for customer billing inquiries.
This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary contact for customer questions regarding sewer billing
- Calculate sewer bills based on usage, rates, and applicable fees
- Process billing adjustments and follow up on billing issues
- Issue sewer tap permits and schedule inspections
- Calculate and provide estimates for sewer taps
- Verify contractor invoices and prepare check requests
- Coordinate documentation and payments related to easements
- Provide billing information to utility companies
- Generate reports and track and balance funding sources
- Maintain accurate records, files, and billing documentation
- Answer phones and assist customers with questions or concerns
- Read and interpret maps, plats, construction plans, and related documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, internal departments, utility companies, and the public
- Participate in an after-hours voicemail/on-call rotation as required
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of experience in office administration, accounting, billing, or a related field
- Basic knowledge of accounting and billing processes preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Access is a plus
- Strong data entry and clerical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to perform billing calculations accurately
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy office environment
- Experience reviewing construction plans, maps, specifications, or contractor documentation is a plus
- Valid driver's license required
